This year I have grown as a writer in many ways. I have learned to be more descriptive when I am writing a paper. I have learned not to use that when I am writing something because I am not always talking about myself. Also, the word “you” is not good to use because I am not talking about the subject not to one person in general. I also learned how to use commas correctly and when to use certain words in my sentences. Learning how to use all these things correctly helps my writing make more sense. This year and what my teachers have taught me have made me grow as a writer. Some of my weaknesses are I still use those words in some papers but I am working on being a better writer. I tend to not use a strong voice. My strengths are that I know how to spell, use punctuation, and I know how to organize my paragraphs. I am still working on many other things to make my writing better, but throughout this year, my writing has improved greatly. If family members were to compare my writings from the beginning of the year to now, they would say how much I have improved because when I wrote paragraphs I would not write the paragraph to its full and now I do. My favorite piece of writing in my portfolio would have to be the self-reliance project because I was able to talk all about myself. I really liked the use of a wiki because it showed me a different way to do a project about myself. I also like all the other writings because they show my many different styles and how I like to write and what I like to write about. I made it very creative and everyone had a chance to learn all about me! I think that portfolios on wiki spaces are much better then paper portfolios because when doing paper portfolios you have to re-write all your writings and it takes a lot of time. When doing the portfolio on wiki it is much easier because your writing is already on there so all you have to do is update them and organize the wiki. However, when writing on paper it makes it easier for me to proof and edit the paper. It also makes it easier for the teacher to read and grade the papers. I think all teachers should start using wiki spaces for portfolios. Their students would love it! I appreciate what my teachers have taught me this year because, what they have taught me has made me grow as a writer.
